In case you missed it yesterday (which hopefully if you are as obsessed with Breaking Bad as we are, you didn’t), Jonathan Banks (aka Mike Ehrmantraut) has joined the cast of Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad prequel.  Banks will appear as a series regular.  In Breaking Bad, Mike, a former police officer, worked as the Head of Corporate Security at Los Pollos Hermanos and as an enforcer for Gus Fring’s meth operation.  He later became involved with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s meth business.  In one of the greatest tragedies on the show, Walt shot Mike in the Season 5A finale.

There has of course been speculation about which other Breaking Bad characters may appear on Better Call Saul, but nothing has been released yet.

We are very, very happy to have Mike back on TV.

We aren’t exactly breaking this news, but we would be remiss if we did not comment.  In case you have been living under a rock for the last day, we are here to let you know that the much anticipated Breaking Bad spinoff “Better Call Saul” is happening.  We are pee-in-your-pants kind of happy about this!

The AMC PR Department released the following statement yesterday:

“AMC and Sony Pictures Television confirmed today that they have reached a licensing agreement for a spinoff of Vince Gilligan’s landmark AMC/SPT seriesBreaking Bad. As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul. Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.”

Bob Odenkirk will be reprising his role as Saul (thank goodness) and Peter Gould, a writer and producer from Breaking Bad, will be spearheading the project.
